Why and When Does Our Vehicle Become Invalid to Use Publicly?

You need to understand that every vehicle must undergo an MOT Test London after a certain period. The drivers bear the real cost of ignoring this. The reason is that when it is legally required, but the vehicle does not have a valid certificate as proof of an MOT pass, it is not considered acceptable to drive it in public. This is because it may pose a danger to other people on the road, as it is unclear whether there is any problem with the vehicle. So, further on this page, we are going to discuss the important and other rules and regulations of MOT. Paying attention to them because it is law law-based inspection program.

What Is the First Due Date of MOT Test

We would like to inform you that your vehicle will have to go for inspection within the first 3 years after purchase. This period is kept so long because everything is fine in a new vehicle for the first few years and no problems arise.

For some vehicles, the due date is still fixed after 12 months, here we are talking about taxis, ambulances and private passenger vehicles.

It is important for the vehicle to pass all the inspection stages, as even minor problems cannot be ignored and may cause the vehicle to suffer an MOT failure.

If you pass the test correctly you are given a VT20 document which proves that the vehicle is fully fit for UK roads.

What Do We Need to Do to Revalidate the Certificate?

This MOT certificate confirms that everything was found correct in the vehicle during the inspection, so it is allowed to drive. But you should also know that it also has an expiry date which is only for one year, after it’s legally prohibited to drive it. That is why this test is taken annually and it applies to all types of vehicles.

Can Minor Issues Be Ignored by the MOT Tester?

If you also think about whether your vehicle will be able to pass this test or not, then this question must be coming into your mind. So let us tell you that this test is done strictly at every centre. Testers follow the guidelines given by the DVSA regarding the parts to be inspected, which are as follows:

  • Seat Belts

  • Exhaust

  • Emissions

  • Steering

  • Bonnet Catch

  • Windscreen

  • Horn

  • Lights

  • Number Plate

  • Tyres

  • Wheels

  • Brakes

  • Doors

  • Mirrors

  • Seats

  • Fuel System

  • Suspension

  • Battery and Wiring

  • Body Structure

Any problem found in the MOT test is then classified based on the level. If a problem is normal but needs attention to get it fixed then it is considered a minor case whereas if it is above a limit then it is declared serious. All these details are given to you in the VT30 document so that you can get it fixed from them or any other centre. Do note that whatever the problem is, your vehicle will not be allowed to use on public roads. Therefore, that issue must be resolved as soon as possible before the last date of the re-test, otherwise, you will have to attend the original MOT test again with full payment.

What If You Drive Without Having A Valid MOT Certificate?

Everyone has the right to drive in public but he/ she must have a valid MOT certificate. But we would like to tell you that if you are unable to pass this test before the stipulated time then you will have to face restrictions for driving as well as fines. So be serious about this matter because vehicles are such a part of our life that can be needed at any time. The maximum limit of the fine we are talking about is £2500, now you think how big a loss you can suffer if take it for granted. Such a thing is applied to all types of vehicles running in the UK.

If you do not stop yourself from driving without a certificate despite paying fines continuously then the other consequence will be on your license, transport authority has the right to take any legal action against it.

Listen, here are some exceptional cases when you may be allowed to drive, that too without obtaining an MOT certificate. Would you like to know when? The following points need to be noted:

  • When you do a pre-booking go to the same center to make an appointment for MOT Test Bermondsey

  • The second case is that if your vehicle was unable to pass the test and you want to get the problem fixed at another centre, driving is still possible.

We would like to tell you that an exception has been added to the second point – this feature is not made available to you in case of dangerous issues because it has already caused a road danger.

That is why we would like to say that if you have to pass the MOT test in one go, then keep following the regular servicing, as the problems get resolved in time in their minor form.
